Selecting a project

So, you find your dream project or have your own idea?

Here comes the tricky part.

We need to avoid such situation, where someone will take (being excited) the interesting research topic (so it became reserved/unavailable to anyone else), but will not progress with the work and end with poor or no solution, while someone else could deliver great results.

You need to convince me, that you are really into that project and take your work seriously. Thus, apart from selecting the project topic, I expect that you will provide (via contact channels) plan, or even draft solution, how to achieve project goals. Such plan should be convincing and must include work for at least a semester. If project require to use tools, third-party solutions or information sources, you have to have idea, what to use. Of course, I also expect that you will read and know other conditions I stated on these pages.

Things gets even better if you have your own topic proposal – then you need also to do initial research proving, that topic you propose is important from scientific point of view, and why your idea is better than already existing solutions.

Keep in mind, that I will require you to work regularly throughout the semester (see „status meetings”). You need to show regular progress, otherwise, I will be forced to take your project away.

If you feel uncomfortable with regular work during entire semester - let it go. If you feel uncomfortable with writing in English - let it go. If you feel uncomfortable with regular status meetings and me monitoring your work - let it go. There are plenty of other things to do at the university.

If you still want to do this - contact me and amaze me with your ideas :)
